Update Pinmist

Pinmist updates itself when you are ready. You stay signed in, and your bookmarks and history stay put.

Pinmist updates itself. Updating keeps you signed in, and keeps your bookmarks, history and settings, because they are stored separately from the app.

Automatic updates

While Pinmist is open, it checks for a new version shortly after it starts and every few hours. A new version downloads in the background, then a small notice says it is ready. Press Restart to update when it suits you: Pinmist never restarts by itself.

If you are simulating when you restart, Pinmist asks first. Restarting stops the simulation, and your iPhone goes back to its real location until you set one again.

To check straight away, open Settings › About and press Check for updates. The same place shows which version you have.

Updating by hand

You can also install a new version over the old one from the download page.

On macOS

  1. If you are simulating, press Reset location. Then quit Pinmist.
  2. Download the new version and open the .dmg.
  3. Drag Pinmist into Applications and choose Replace.
  4. Open Pinmist.

On Windows

  1. If you are simulating, press Reset location. Then close Pinmist.
  2. Download the new installer and run it. It replaces the old version.
  3. Open Pinmist from the Start menu.

Before you update iOS

Pinmist supports iOS 17.4 to iOS 27. Before you install a brand new version of iOS, check the download page for a matching Pinmist version. If a future iOS release needs changes, the new Pinmist will be published there.
